Bio

I am a dedicated maternal health advocate, birth and postpartum doula, and mother of two, with over five years of experience supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and beyond. My personal journey into motherhood has profoundly shaped my professional approach, providing me with a deep, empathetic understanding of the challenges and triumphs that birthing individuals and parents face.

‍

In my role as Associate Executive Director at Harambee Village Doulas, I led initiatives addressing Black maternal mortality and mental health disparities, managed data systems, and collaborated with stakeholders, including public health departments and national doula associations. My hands-on experience as a practicing birth and postpartum doula allowed me to provide comprehensive care tailored to each family's unique needs.

‍

Beyond direct care, I have been actively involved in policy development and advocacy through my work with Shades of You, Shades of Me, focusing on legislation that impacts pregnant individuals, such as opposing the shackling of pregnant women and girls in Wisconsin's carceral systems. As a certified grief support specialist, I have volunteered with Healing Our Hearts Foundation, offering compassionate support to mothers experiencing pregnancy or infant loss.

‍

My civic engagement includes active participation in organizations like PlannedParenthood and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., focusing on women's health and public policy. These experiences have honed my skills in community outreach, policy advocacy, and program development—all vital to nurturing resilient, healthy communities.

‍

Currently, I am expanding my expertise by pursuing certifications as a Lactation Consultant (CLC) and a certified childbirth educator. These endeavors reflect my commitment to providing holistic, evidence-based support to families during the perinatal period. By integrating clinical knowledge with personal experience, I strive to empower parents through education, advocacy, and compassionate care, striving to ensure that every parent feels seen, heard, and supported throughout their journey.
